His expertise in emotional intelligence, trauma-informed leadership, and designing compassionate systems fueled the development of the Elevate Work approach and has led iOE to become a trusted advisor for building psychologically safe, high-performing teams. A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader and Stanford-certified Compassion Specialist, Dr. Pickens has developed research-backed strategies that help organizations navigate conflict, support retention, and create fair, transparent processes where employees and leaders thrive and want to stay.
